Other Activities

What sets a South African Safari apart from other hunting trips is this can be a true “Family Adventure,” fun for the entire family!  While the hunters are in the field, just because the others in the group are at the lodge, that doesn’t mean they have nothing to do.

South Africa is known world-wide for its variety of animals and bird life.  Game-viewing and nature photography are two of the obvious activities that can be done.

But, if you’d like to take a day or two off from chasing game, there is a partial list of things that can be done while on safari as well.

Scuba Diving/Snorkeling – If your idea of adventure lives below sea level, enjoy the pure blue waters of South Africa’s coast!elephantbacktour

Shark Diving – Go ahead, do something your neighbors wouldn’t dream of.  Climb into a shark safety cage and see these top of the line predators up close and personal!

Elephant-Back Nature Tours – See South Africa the way Tarzan might when he got off the vine!

Deep Sea Fishing – Fish for marlin, sailfish, tuna, kingfish, mackerel, sharks and many other common saltwater species.  But you might just catch some fish rarely caught away from South Africa such as garrick, kob, poenskop, baardman and galjoen!

Freshwater Fishing – South Africa has some great trout fishing, as well as largemouth bass.  But there’s some others that can only be caught in South Africa such as the Yellowfish.paragliding

Surfing – South Africa has world-class surfing that has to be seen to be believed!

Tandem paragliding – South Africa has VAST amounts of sky.  Experience it first-hand without spending two days learning.  Paraglide with a trained professional and soar with the birds!

Hot Air Ballooning – A very quiet, relaxing and totally novel way to view the beautiful South African countryside.

Whale Watching – The coast near Cape Town is on the migration route for humpbacked whales.  Take the time to get up close to these majestic creatures.  Bryde’s whales, common dolphins and humpbacked dolphins might also be observed on the same trip.  There are very few places in the world that offer this kind of diversity.  The best time is between June and October for whale watching.horseback

Horseback Riding – Experience South Africa the way the original European settlers, the Boer’s did, from the back of a horse.  There are many horseback tours available throughout South Africa.

Whitewater Rafting – Would your family prefer the thrills and excitement of a rough and adrenaline packed South African white water rafting trip?  South Africa is home to some awesome torrential rivers promising exhilarating white water rafting adventures.  Under professional guidance, novices as well as experts can experience hours of enjoyable and challenging adventures.
