More than that, its different fishing regs as well,15 in all across the board in ky,barkley tn its 18 in for smallies,ky lake howevr its same as ky 15 across the board.
Yes some good spots above like in teh state park at lil river just bartely above it,but most of us run south when launcjhing from there.
Look at any map just up lake  south of that bridge islands start and some veggies and a lot of wood behind them, with long points on lbl east side of the lake.
Also narrows down the playing field and keeps someone from going to their backyard stocked backwater.
As far as its concerned that time of year forget ky all together, yes theres a ledge bite always is and ky has them ,we do as well also grass. While ky has grass to be fair, its all submerged and less of it.Finding an underwater grass point up there is a bonanza, yet would take someone whos on the water constantly most likly a guide.
As for your aoy contestants several I bet will go out with dave stewart prior to the cutoff.considering the time of year and the location that is quite different nice trip but not something one could use much.
Its a shallow bite then bandit 100,rootbeer in shallow creeks and for shallow ledges or humps on main lake a baby bushog or paca craw used by themselves, green pumpkin, watermelon etc.
Barkley generally has more stain than ky,expect 1 ft vis.
The spot i have in mind to fish is halfway up there to the 68 bridge, never actually gone north to it just from lil river south to it.

My guess is that if you go north of the Hwy 68 bridge, you'd need a Kentucky license in addition to a Tennessee license…

I was reading the limited amount of information available for the AOY Final Round. It was there I noticed that tournament waters are limited to the area "south" of the hwy. 68 bridge. It's not that I'd probably make that run but…. There's fer sure some good looking areas north of the hwy. 68 bridge. It appears to be a less than 30 mile run from Dover which ain't all that bad. Anybody want to venture a guess as to why ABA would place a mid-lake restrictiion such as that – makes absolutely no sense to me!
