That cove is called beaverdam, and im leery of running over to it as a huge flat inbetween, their is a way I know just leery of it about as wide as birdsong and not as well marked.
Cove does have grass in the back was told this by a guy that lives on it.Ramp is local community thing and hes got a flatbottom.I didnt reccomend it for that reason, now Steve could probably pick his way in ,mekinda bothers me onplane as I pay for screwups, insurance is for other guy.
By the way oct 8th a fatality occcured above here in the canal, two T boats collided, guess one or the other didnt know right from left.

Going above birdsong… on the left is a big creek/opening… I don't know the name of it…. But just before you get there headed up river on the right is a small island… There was a lot of activity there the day I was there. Saw one guy boat 2 fish pretty quick…. I didn't get bit there but on the ledge leading in I did on a crig. It looked like a really great place that held fish… just didn't wanna make that run in my rambler…

Yeah I know,in that narrow opening and that long point it can get hot, currently moving with the forage and spooky.Just as steve and I used the hump over on 7 to hide the boat with, they would shut down and move to the other side if you came over.So long casts are pretty much a must for reaction strikes. And 7 was unusable.
Was a tuff bite to be had.Same still, raining all around but not here.
Im going to newjohnsonville sat across from birdsong and up 2 miles.
Sunday ill be at the island cut.Mon having a fish fry.
If nothing else load the boat up with whites and stripers off the discharge at newjohnsonville.

Yeah… I went behind those islands the last day. A few non-keepers and a few blowups on a buzz bait were about it for us. I took him to the same place he caught the keeper to no avail…

Jigs may have caught some bigger fish ,one guy did get first day with one dragging it,but not what I would recomend for a three day event.
Most of the heavy sacks came out of 2-3 ft of water, soth main lake flat just outside of birdsong creek,on scattered grass balls with a spinnerbait.
Some people just pulled up on some schoolers and got lucky, day two the island cut or passageway behind the islands north of paris landing produced over 10pds,thrid day still busting but couldnt get them to bite-that sometimes happens here.
The fella you drew got his 3.49 there.
Ky lake can be hard fishing at times, but pull up right spot or toss the right thing and bam sometimes a chatterbait, sometimes a redeye,or bladebait make a difference.
You did get to see a lot or fair amount of the lake in such a short time, when i encounter those cruisers i just stop still lifts me up and drops me like a rock.
Glad you and the boat made it back in one piece.
Yall come back an see us ya hear

I'm glad you made it back all right! I assume that the motor is still on the back of the boat???
I don't ever remember fishing for so long with such little results, EVER! And I know that Kentucky Lake is certainly capable of showing better fish than she showed you. Although you did get to experience some of what Kentucky Lake is capable of in regards to wind and waves….
We'll get you back up here when the lake levels are a bit better, and the fish are deciding to come out and play….
And I did get the roof on the "screen porch" yesterday, so it's looking good. All that's left is to hand the screen door, but while I did buy a door, I forgot to buy hinges!!!
Oh well, one of these days I'll be able to get a project done with only one trip to Lowe's…

Trip completed. 'bout 12.5 hours.
Without a doubt the worst tounament results I've ever had. Hard to get lower'n zippity-do-dah…
Winning sacks did not come out of 9' of water nor on a jig. 5-6' on a spinner bait well south of the landing. I believe the bigger fish, precious few weighed in, were suspended on/near the ledges and very inactive. The sounding me'n Steve got will confirm that fact.
Hats off to the winner as it was well deserved!
Steve n' Janet were without a doubt the greatest host n' hostess one could ever have hoped for! Thank to both of you for all you did!
