No I can't imagine casting one pound lures all day with my right rotator cuff. I'd get three or four casts in and be ready to go fish for crappies.

I'll wait til spring as I know some walleyes will be wanting to give the ones I already have a try.  I might be tempted to vertical jig some thru the ice as well. We shall see what happens when I do~

I did use BIG swimbaits for pike and muskies and they worked pretty good.  The only problem I had with the big ones was they wanted to go a little deeper than I wanted them to go.  I was constantly getting them hung up in the weeds, but I did find out that if a person really gave them a hard rip, it would trigger some hellacious strikes on occasion!

I do like the small ones for bass, and they're a lot easier on this aging body than the muskie size models.  Some of them weigh up to a pound!  Can you imagine casting one of those all day?  Surprised

Was at BPS late in the season and saw a few soft plastic swimbaits and since I'd not given swimbaits a serious chance yet, picked up some that looked like they'd be good to use trolling for salmon/rainbows.  Sure enough those puppies paid off nicely in fillets.  Can't wait until next summer to give the larger sizes a workout for pike and other toothy critters as well~

There's a dandy smallmouth lake close by that hosts fish that average 4-6+ so I'm a thinkin' next spring…Laugh

Would have to agree ive done better with soft ones the lightly weighted 4 in one can buy at walley world and the 6 in Mr money using a 5/0 hook,no weight over grass or pads, using the hook with the belly weight zero.

The smaller hardbody they tended to show themselves but not take it,so used it for locating, see a flash behind it toss a soft one in.Others do well with both the soft and a heavy under belly hook or a hardbodied, think a lot of reaction was due to just this year here.

The 2 jointed number 5 shadrap works here just got off it due to it catching 9-10 stuff as well, that 3.5 three jointed is about same size, and often schoolers are taking slender minnows versus shad, fatheads, shiners,or even darters.Think on those days when one can toss a shad crankbait in among them with them  tearing the water apart and not get bit this is the ticket.

Just about right for the suspenders on hole 4 wouldnt you say running 5-9 ft.

i catch a few spots prespawn on it,yet none post spawn, somewhere like the ohio river be yearround on it,havnt a clue why not here as supposed to be a flooded river fishery, yet spots dont act like they are in a river, for that matter neither do smallies, but the largemouth are like a river pattern often. As they gang up just where a spot would be or should be.

Hopefully a lil change in baits maybe find where and what.Like as in predictable spot and smallmouths like elsewhere.

I know that hard swimbaits work well, but I've never had any luck with them.  Now soft plastic swimbaits?  That's another story.  I've done pretty well here on Kentucky Lake with the smaller swimbaits for sheer numbers of schoolies.  But then again, I haven't caught any big fish on them.

I purchased an H20 4 in last year in american shad loved the way it looked, did not do well with it,but a bad year.

This is even a tad smaller at 3.5 in but is also a sinker running a tad deeper, tight wobble quite like a jointed shad rap but bill different odd in several respects but thought id get a few to try out, will be tossed on a spinning outfit for distance weight about 1/3 oz.
