Andy, if you've got holes in the spool, simply run the braid through the holes, tie if off and trim the tag end.  That's all you need to do and the line won't slip on the spool.

If you're spooling a "non-holy" reel, then you either need to put about 5 yards of mono line on first, then tie the braid to the mono backing, or do as I do and tie the braid direct, then cut a 1/2 inch square of electrical tape and put that over the knot, taping the line to the spool.

Then you can simply crank the line on and not worry about the braid slipping on the spool under pressure.  Cool

Oops when doing braid, load the spool with some mono prior to prevent slipage when hook setting.

A long cast should not go al the way to the knot joining them when it comes near that replace.

Ive always just ran the line thru the hole then tie a knot, trim tag end off no need to cover as line does and it will never get that far down into the spool prior to needing replaced.

Fluro I havnt had much use of so dunno, braid yeah it slides thru, casts long low give or low stretch, great for worming, jig frogging, thick no mans land. For those same reasons not the best for say crankbaits.

Myself i still use mono for other things.

I am going to spool my bastcaster with 50lb Power Pro. My spool has dimples or holes in it. What is the best way of spoolong this reel? Run the line through the holes, make a knot, cover the knot with electrical tape, then spool?

Thanks,

Andy

PS……. Steve I am loving the braid  Cool. I had so many issues with Fluro, co poly it's not funny!!!
