Actually I bought it with ten pd power pro and flukes in mind.

So its size is about right and it allows one to back reel when necessary a feature some more expensive ones do not.

10 bb ,5.1.1 ratio.does not feel heavy actual weight on my Berkley scales show 7 ozs

They do make them smaller one size at least and several larger, with different gear ratios.,mostly slower.

Recieved today nothing like in hand compared to a  pic tells as much. Its not a bad reel ,its size is light to med rather small, they do make largr sizes.

Actually made in china not brazil, and coming from that part of the world seems a decent reel, their is a lack of oil for sure,no finger or thunb thingy to let losse the bail(i never use them),but fairlly well put together.

It also came with a spare spool.

Well, we'll need to get that thing on the water and give it a try.  Just make sure to take that thing apart and grease/oil that reel before you start fishing with it….

Nothing wrong with paying a lil more for what one wants,as for my restraint it stems from a lack of monetary means.

Do I have some expensive lures yes,but few in number, what I care about more is what works for me.Pointers are good, not real expensive, but not cheap either. That american shad swimbait will work after viewing it as I have a gsplash in that color and they eat it up

And when I find one that works Im willing to pay more for it than otherwise the unknown.

Actually paid less for it than a pointer.

You could take a video of that 3 1/2 in american shad, other than at certain angles one detects those joints it looks real from above.

Later when weather and boats permits Ill do a report on just that one bait.

Right now id bet 20 bucks I can limit with it.

As for the reel Id like to hear how it works out even if I never(most likly) will ever buy one.

Ill even give one on the cheapie I just bought, never know when someone wants a cheap but decent spare.

There are a lot of reels on the market that are well within the budget of any angler.  The problem comes when you're trying to get the weight down as Doug is trying to do.  Those reels don't come cheap at all.

I have a couple spinning reels that I was able to get for $5.00 each.  How well they're going to work?  I have no idea but I think for the average angler, they'd do just fine.

It'll be interesting to see how they hold up to some use on Kentucky Lake.

Wish I had your fiscal restraint! While I looked hard at the Shimano Aldebaran(Core Mg50) I simply could not pull the trigger on a 350.00 baitcaster. I went instead with the Daiwa Sol which was 120.00 less. The Core weighed 5.6oz and the Sol tips the scales at 7.4 so I added a bit of weight over-all. But… should still come in at around 11.3 or 11.5ozs on the final build. Just weighed my old cranking stick and citica reel combo… Before replacing the guides it weighed in at 15.2oz. so I shaved off about 4ozs. – 1/4lb. – that's a lot!

Should have included the name brand in previous post its called a Freedom, where its actually made dont have a clue right now will when delivered.Being a good buy for new, yes about 12 dollars including shipping.Seems your right about the price of a decent spool of line.

As for the argon rod its already gone above the money alotted for it.I love those auctions where their is no reserve and they start low. There is like anywhere theirs a flea mrkt a certain amount of junk, one has to pick and choose.Ive never had this brand of reel prior taking a chance rolled the dice and for 12 bucks if it turns up snakeyes wont be hurt much.(I did spec it out prior to bidding)

Ive spent that much (actually more)on a used mitchell 300,when I had the chance to have it in hand locally.

Sweet looking reel…. Did some looking at it on ebay as well. Do you know who manufactured it? From a few google searches it appears to orginate out of Brazil but I don't know that for a fact. Heck I can't hardly spool a reel up with line for what you paid for that! Good job!

One must have reels to use as well, got this  for tossing jerkbaits, small to med(to me a 5 in is a medium)

10 Ball Bearing
Gear Ratio 5.1:1
Aluminium spool
Instant anti-reverse
Left/Right Interchangeable handle
One Touch Button Fold Handle
Wooden Knob
Front Drag
Mini bearing inside of line roller
One way clutch
Balanced Rotor System
Spare Graphite Spool
Line capacity (lb/yds): 4/270, 6/140, 8/110

Other reels to follow but baitcasters, also have a bid in on a Kistler Argon glass rod but who knows im trying to get stuff cheap. If you succeed then you have a bargain,if not nothing wasted but time.
