Yeah so do I like sammys, but the old walk the dog spook is sometimes what they want, have other stuff that can resemble a buzzbait retrieve like a popr with a carved front lip,or a weedless depps basirisky, talk about a commode flush, that single hook however at times just wont hook up right.
Other times they take a dual hook frog and have one sticking out which they like to drive into a stalk or something they can shed it with.Normally both are inside, when hitting them good.

All depends on how you work a spook I 'spoze…. Mine looks like a buzz bait comin' across the water. I've got other stick baits for enticin' with a lazy walk the dog action.

Being shorter and having less stride my results look better with higher numbers yet not as far.
Shute I was happy to get my last few reels off ebay some bass pro stuff 6/1 and 6/2 for mid thirties, rebuilt of course.
Most likly the most expensive reel i own was and is a lews bb that cost 72 about ten years ago, still a great reel, for cranking 3/8/1 or 4/3 dont recall, wide spool not as slow as you think.
I've got 3 Lew's that I no longer use. 2 – BB1N's and 1-BB1NG's. I kept the boxes and all the paper work so maybe someday one of my young'uns can sell'em to some collector. They were great reels and if you ever get the desire to chunk a jitter bug those reels have the perfect ratio for that bait.

Well, for me being left handed, conventional reels work great! That's one of the few benefits of being a southpaw that I can think of.
But I've heard good things about the Abu Revo reels. I will have to give yours a try as I'm a died in the wool Shimano fan with many Curados and a Chronarch.

I've been a Shimano guy since 1993… for a couple of years prior to that a Diawa guy…. before that Lew's BB1n and BB1nG. When Shimano quit making the L.H. models readily available I was forced to look at other mfgs. for a solution to the problem. Since then I have purchased 1 – Diawa SOL and I love it. But I also, several months back, happened upon a Revo STX on sale so I bought it – n' luv it too. Then this week… happened upon another Revo STX on sale and got it. Well….
Rigged that puppy up with 20# Berkley braid on a shimano 7'6″ med./fast rod for chunking super flukes. I couldn't wait to get out on the water with it so I got out in the street to set up the magnetic brake. Those reels are simply unbelievable and lightyears better than the Chronarchs and Curados I have. After dialing in the mag. brake I'm chunking a zoom super fluke 120' on a regular basis – w/o thumbing the spool – into a light breeze. A few clicks to free up the spool a tad more and I'm hitting 150' with the super fluke, but that is not on a regular basis and does require an intelligent thumb and some patience picking out overruns caused by dumb thumb!!! My best was probably around 160'. With a weightless superfluke I'm thinkin' that ain't bad. I was pacing these cast off on a normal stride which for me measures approx. 3'.
Steve you'll have to chunk this thing when I get up there. All'a my stuff is left handed so after you chunk it you can hand me the rod n' I'll wind'er up! LOLOL…. My part'ner of 12 years back in Georgia asked to give one of my reels a try shortly after I started chunkin' left handed. He cast it out fine but…. on the retrieve…. best descripion I could ever come up with was "He looked like a drunk in handcuffs trying to light a cigarette!"
