Dont seem much of a report coming from that effort, water temp warmer than what online stats say, millions of small slender minnows that they are feeding on,and if you happen to spot them actually feeding can toss in the ring they made and they are gone already.

Shad type baits useless, slender shiner or fathead types getting a few hits, with ruberr being a slow steady standby.6,800 cfs this morning now 36,000,which is what we needed.

Along with some missing grass, other than shallow backs of two bays it was spotty to say the least.

Birds were on the upswing with even an eagle flying low over the water.Ospreys in a nest with lil ones and many water birds and me with a camers low on batteries.

Well, give me a call and let me know what day you want to go out.  As long as we're home by noon, I can go any morning next week.  And the only reason why I say noon is Janet works afternoons and needs my truck.

And with the website performance, nine times out of ten, it is either in your computer or sluggish performance is from your internet provider.  Some websites will run faster than others, but the number of people simply logging onto the internet will bog things down.

Well then, dig out the Lew's and we'll put it on. Did you look at eBay at the Shimano Curado reels?

Well then, when we get out fishing next, I'll let you give it a whirl.  Then if you like it, you can order one.

Crankbait rods are VERY subjective.  Some people like a stiff, sensitive rod when fishing cranks, others fall into a different mindset.  And many people think that what makes a good crankbait rod is exactly the same thing that makes up a good spinnerbait rod.  Typically, people use a moderate action rod for crankbaits, so it's kind of difficult to specify exactly what rod to use.  Personally, I think that the Croaker Smoker is an amazing spinnerbait/crankbait rod.  The next time we go out fishing, I'll let you try it.

Crankbait reels need a much lower gear ratio so that it doesn't beat you up retrieving the lure.  With the sudden fascination with "Power Fishing," most companies have gone to higher gear ratios, which mean it is harder to retrieve a deep diving crank like the DD-22.  Shimano used to make a Curado (the old green style) that had a 3.8:1 gear ratio, which was absolutely perfect for deep cranking.  However, they've eliminated that reel and all you're left with is reels with the lowest gear ratio of 5:1 and a fairly hefty price tag of $180.00….

As a side note, I did look on eBay and they do have one of the old green Curado reels with the 3.8:1 gear ratio for $69!!!  Here's the link.  http://cgi.ebay.com/shimano-ba…..3f0b56d5a0

Ambassaduer does make the Revo Winch with a 4.6:1 gear ratio, that that model starts at $270!  Surprised

Now Okuma does make a "Citrix" reel with a low gear ratio that retails for $120.00, but I've heard good and bad things about Okuma reels durability.

Pinnacle Reels also makes a 4.7:1 reel that has an MSRP of $129, but I don't know much about Pinnacle reels either.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on crankbait rods and reels.  Anyone else have an opinion?

What rod and gear ratio should be used for a DD22 or deep diving big lipped crankbait?

Have yet to find any im comfortable with feels like a 10-12 in bass is already on it.
