Only folks that fish ABA here in Texas have trouble figuring out which end of the rod to use – nobody in Texas knows how to fish. Heck we're still tying granny knotts. Yeah… right!

Well let's see… you've been out 3-4 times and still wouldn't have a limit. Yup, sho'nuff seems you have KYL allllll figured out. If I'd lived there as long as you have guaranteed I wouldn't be havin' none/one keeper days like you. You did not fish the time period I did when I was there – why not??? Afraid you'd blank like a lot of guys did under extremely difficult conditions? There's talk and then there's results… So far your results don't come close to your talk!

I dont consider myself to be that good, can normally get close as to area, but not always on baits, often being in sight of someone who wins, yet do not blank if running my own boat.

Have to fish against the top finishers of your national every T almost other than the nc guy,as most were locals.Tom is div 40 but fishes 32 all the time, won the two day same general arrea he won the national on.

Competition is tuff as well as the lake, doubt if I ever will get it all together location plus bait.

The one time I was closest had company in the Yellow creek open at birdsong, and at daylight we doubted pattern would hold up,seldom does one for that amount or length of time.

But toss enough darts one eventually dioes hit the board.

Ky lake is difficult to learn how and when to run,how and what to get a bite on when shes ficckle.

1/2 the year or better one can catch keepers on anything in your box,the trick then is being right places and right baits not just anything in your box

And anyone who can catch fish continueally and be in the cash line here is equal to any bass pro,as it takes boo koos of weight when shes hot and still a 5 fish limit when everyone has difficulty getting one.

If you figgure that one out turn pro

If you recall we prefished that area and changed it to mouth of birdsong and grass there,as for that flat it is about 2 ft deep in places and if one went straight out from birdsong creek would ground the boat out on it,you have to angle to the left in order to get out to main.Bait was incorrect but was working just not as good as the grass ball pattern,we ran into that last year in early nov with chattterbaits and spinnerbaits both working, must have been lake level that triggered that, but up to each individual fisherman what and or how they cacth fish on.

Barkley those three creeks are within 1/2 mile of each other cranks in it ,shakeyheads and criigs at mouths normal, due to humps on north sides..My own thoughts were to fish the humps on or with a crig with a paca craw or baby  bushhog. As I seldom get the shallow crank bait bite  right.

Two bodies of water this large if even within 20 sq miles of where would be same general area,Id say within 1/2 mile is pretty much spot on.

And given another day they would have to change baits as hitting something else all of a sudden, they do that here havnt a clue.

Once however you do connect you dont feel like they are all short fish, the rest is in the eye of the beholder.

Would love to fish Texas and many other places but my traveling days are more or less over,my wifes health is more important to me than fishing, one of the reasons I moved here dont have to travel to fish or fish T.Just have to learn a new body of water-still learning.

Come back in april thru june, lake isnt hard to read then.Just takes 20- 30 pds plus to win

Granted ky lake was on the tuff side while you were here, but Aol was won witthin one mile of where i tried to get you to fish about 2-3 miles north of bumpus mills left side three creeks coming in ,one with a tree in its mouth and a ledge just outside. He tossed a crankbait down the center instead of at the banks.Slightly deeper running crank due to pattern of about 5-6 ft depth.

National was won just outside the mouth of Birdsong, but on a main lake flat not shore grass, but also within one mile or less, and on a spinnerbait not a frog.

But overall info supplied was about as spot on as one could get, both areas, just different baits

Pig an jig was a one fish bait pretty much, definately not a three day 15 fish bait.

When a tourista can come here and catch 5 it takes 26 pds to get a check and 31 or 32 to win.

I havnt been slaying them yet dont blank.

Living here does have its advantages

And id still bet on the hog.

Spot on????? LOL… you clack me up li'l Mule. "Shallow – 2' or less back of birdsong…" Reality was on a flat near deep water for National champ.

For AOY your current comments are spot off as well…. He found'em during practice on a crankbait but…. During the tournament he couldn't get'em to touch a crankbait… caught'em ALL on a shakey head. Within one mile huh? So that's supposed to mean – what? That you correctly guessed the body of water the winning catch would come out of???

Do you just sit there and make stuff up or do you really think what you said is what really happened.

Gotta offer…. drag the Allison down to Texas fish one of our one day tournaments…

I really don't care who you bet on only because it flat doesn't matter to me!

I agree… you living there does have it's advantages!

Doug if you were in a 12 x 12 pen with a 300 pd boar and you armed with a 12 in arkislaw tootpick,Id bet on the boar.

Ps lake is now 31000 cfm with some rain and 66 f,and yes they are  biting.

Now that youve toured the lake and know what each section looks like you ought to come back and fish the 1 day Ts at paris landing, newjohnsonville and birdsong.

Might even see what a keeper looks like.

If you find me in a 12×12 with a 300# boar you better bet on me cause the pig's gonna die of suffication.

There are no keepers in KYL!!!!!! Nuttn' but a hatchery for other Tenn/Ky lakes!

Well Dangit Doug, how big does an animal have to get in order for you to call it big???

I know you're from Texas, but this ol' Tennessee boy considers 300 pounds to be fairly "big" game….

There are russian wild boar here in tn, mostly eastern mountainous part-smokies etc.

And like their counterparts we raise get 300-400 pds or so,have a nice set of razor sharp tusks, and a dislike for intruders, generally run but not always and a wounded one isnt something you want to track. They use tusks and teeth just like their raised brethren on ham strings of your legs.

Any livestock yard man will tell you hed rather be in a pen with a large bull than a boar hog.

Yes, European hogs can get quite large.  The one shot by Dohn was right at 300 lbs., and there are larger hogs on the ranch!

Well, unless you've done it, you wouldn't understand.  But I've been on several different hog hunts, in several different states now.  I would definitely classify hog hunting as LARGE game…

And Good Lord Man, let me write the article, will ya???  Surprised

well it ain't big game n' it ain't small game so how do ya' classify hog hunting? But that ain't the real question. The real question is how'd the hog hunting trip go? Them boys get'em some hogs? How'd the filming go?
