Well, the .17 scored again last night.  Three coons working on tearing the feeder down and one didn't leave.  I'm beginning to think there's an inexhaustable supply of coons in my area.  While they are cute little buggers in their own way, the amount of damage they can do is unbelievable….Surprised

Well, after last night, the score is .17 HMR 2, Coons still 0!

About 10:00 last night, I looked out the window and there were FOUR raccoons outside the window.  One was snaffling around on the ground underneath two of the feeders, that was all right.  But the other three were on the tree, trying to tear down the feeder again.  They managed it once when it was just nailed on, but now I used a LONG drywall screw and the dirty little buggers were really cranking on it.  It looked like they were going to actually tear it loose, so I persuaded the other three to leave, and one to stay so we could have a "little discussion" on the care of bird feeders.

He was nicely illuminated by the yard light and when he hit the ground, he didn't have much to say….  Wink  I love that little rifle….

If anyone has ever been to my house, you'd know that between the back of the house and the woods, there's only about 20 – 30 feet separating the two.  It's in this space that we have three bird feeders and a hummingbird feeder set up.

Well lately, the racoons have been raising hell with the feeders, tearing them down, busting them up and even tearing up the feeder that I have screwed down to a tree!

They usually show up about 10:00 at night, and it's dark enough back behind the house that picking up a dark racoon in a dark back yard in a scope is difficult, if not nearly impossible.  Making a shot just isn't feasible under these conditions.

But today, that all changed when one was stupid enough to show up at 6:45 in bread daylight.  I didn't have a single problem whacking the little thief with one shot from the .17 HMR!  Cool
