Well, I've got a little over 3,000 miles on the bike now, and the last time I calculated the mileage, it was a little over 52 mpg!  I'm liking the bike even more every day.

In today's economy and in this climate, owning a motorcycle makes sense.  Realistically, if I want I can ride the bike year around.  Even discounting deep winter, I can still ride 10 months of the year. 

And it's a beauty.  I already have a 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup, but with the high prices of gas, I was looking for something that was a little easier on gas than 12 mpg.  So I started looking at motorcycles.  My friend J.D. and I went shopping last week for bikes and I found exactly what I was looking for.

It's a 2006 Yamaha V Star Silverado 1100.  It's a beautiful bike with colors that come very close to matching the colors of my truck, and also a Silverado.  So it was kind of like fate that brought us together.

The bike has all the goodies, an upgraded seat, floorboards, accessory headlights for better (and safer) lighting, backrests for both the passenger and the rider, saddlebags and it gets 45 MPG!!!  Plus, it's really a fun bike to ride. 

Unless I'm towing my boat or going to Lowe's, I really don't need 12 mpg, so I'll just use the bike for my general running around, saving money in the process.
