he fuel best be hidden, and a boat pard that wont rat,its not kosher only factory installed tanks with proper retraints and most lilly be a precheck prior to actual T,they dont want anyone pouring gas  as in via funnel out there i suspect is the reason.Running most lilly be resiricted to 65 and below anyway due to the lake.Running slowewr than whats needed to run across them is a real beater and running faster than say between  52 or 63 gets one out of timing again, with that much fuel shouldnt have a problem unless you come back off plane, gas avaialbe nearby 179 if open and suspect they will be,you pass it on the way in just prior to the bridge.I can even check and make sure as have the resort ph number, but will have to be near the time as many shut down and go home in a heart beat,as do not live here just own a resort and off season back to ohio etc.

Ive thought the same,an addon 6 gal tank out of sight and strapped ,with its own seperate fuel line connector would be the answer, then never even telling anyone what your doing just change hoses.Providing its properly strapped down, might get one buy if discovered,,they say factory as changes the weight distrubution and handling characteristics.

ain't it funny what a difference 5-6 weeks makes??? Water will be cooler… sunrise later…. and probably more boats on the water. I hope 179 is good to go then. I'm kinna doubting many folks are willing to make a 84 mile round trip. Some can't even if they wanted to. My gambler carries 45 gallons and can use probably 42-43 ov'em… Soooo at 2.5 mpg that gives me a minimum range of 103 miles. I honestly don't know what kinna mileage I get at WOT. If I only get 2 mpg… wheww… that'll be cutting it close!. Guess I could throttle back to around 5,000rpms and then it "shouldn't" be an issue. I'll make the full run once from Paris landing just to check fuel consumption. Regardless of fuel averaging and mpg/gph… The SmartCraft gauges are "Natt's ass accurate" in the "fuel used" catagory. I can make a run over there and tell withing ounces of how much fuel it took to get there. If need be I can chunk a 5 gal fuel tank in the boat for insurance!

Think it has to do with the heat, and both times were short in suration campared to a T,I think in a T where I wouldnt monkey around would have weighed in both trips just not excessive. They are already chasing and antime we got near an area we had seen prior activity in we got bit,one I know was a keeper but a spro 1 oz is a showme bait for 15 -16 stuff, yet i have several 15 in fish that managed to stuff in it their mouths no hoook needed but they were.Think one will just have to avoid the troller when they get near and dont think poling would help, its just that shallow they see you,let alone hear you.

Think alternate baits worm ,fluke are a need yet still a horney toad and a floating frog that walks side to side-must walk, secondary floater would be a pop n spit like spro popin frog in black .

And as it cools be a bit better not as good as last year but better, doubt 6 lbers, but there are 4 lbers there and showing themselves at times just out of cast distance.

Sort of herding their food source around to deeper water near the bridge and back.

What I saw jump were like 6 in shad, that were feeding on something smaller then a target themselves.

Pads arnt as thick some spaces inbetween but braid still needed.Anytime one of got bit both us us got bit within 30 secs of each other and steve getting two horney toad bites back to back, then 1/2 hr til the next flurry or pod pushing thru.Activity spotted is the key they do not however stay long as their prey is running as fast as it can. Some pods consisted of 12-13 in fish ,there are some over 4 + in one that I know of or visably observed.

And it is said one should never count their gamlbers er tritons before they break them.

Nahhh, it'll produce, don't worry.  I think things are just running a little late this year.  With high water levels earlier this year, and the super hot weather this summer, the temps in 179 are not quite right.  I spect that it'll get better….

Ahhh Hummm… isn't this twice in a row that 179 has not produced???? Don't tell me I need to cancel the insurance coverage I've already got on a new 2010 Trition! We're only 5-6 weeks from heading that'a way. So whatever you have to do to restock 179…. Get ta' doing it!

Sounds like a decent trail ,while 250 isnt cheap it beats flw.Steve and i prefished a bit today at 179 no luck,no keepers that is.Water in general 2 ft deep.85 deg f,main lake 87,its normally 2 cooler in it as creek fed, other than that havnt a clue as shallow bowl that should be several deg warmer.

Using a spro 1 oz I had a keeper hit but didnt take, steve caught 4 or 5 13 in bass,I had several come unglued while reeling them in on top the water sking the things, non keepers but hard to telll much when your planing the thingsThink front moving had something to do with it,as im writing this heavy rain is occuring down there, most likly as it gets near me will split and go on several sides of me giving me a light show display and a dash of water.

I got out had a nice time, got rid of some watermelons, three anyway, ate one in the last 24 hrs have 34 more to go,along with a couple of lopes have to eat fast vines are starting to die.

And yes baskitball size in 24 hrs, sweet ,juicy, defintely have to get some wine making supplies.

Skeeter sponsors the BassChamps trails here in Texas and a right healthy trail it is. 20K to win – regardless of what boat you're in(bonus of 10k if you're in a Skeeter) - guaranteed regardless of # of boats that show up. They have 4 trails here North/South/East/West Texas and they all pull 200+ boats at nearly every event. I think the worst they had this year was 140 on Amistad when the wind was forcast to be 40+. They put in at Diablo East – directly in the wind. But… they also let the anglers trailer to where ever they wanted to…. Just had to be back to Diablo East by the witchin' hour. That is the trail that I'm going to fish next year. It's a team trail and so fer I ain't found a partner(280.00 entry fee – per boat). But they'll let you fish solo if ya' wanna. So if I don't find a parder a'fore January I'll be going it alone. I'll probably fish the Eastern trail which is 5 tournaments on Sam Rayburn. The western trail is Amistad, Falcon, Choke Canyon and O.H.Ivie. I like fishing Falcon and Choke Canyon but they're only having one tournament on each of those lakes and 2 on Amistad and 1 or 2 on O.H. Ivie(which I've never fished before). For the records O.H. Ivie gave up a handfull of 13#+ fish this year alone… Might'a been a fluke but that lake was spitting out big bass every week pretty much all year long!

Bullet does get a lot of word of mouth advertising as many are or were made quite common and a very fast boat ,just about 1 boat length behind an alley if in a race.

The gambler word of mouth isnt quite so sterling, even though lite in construction ive never heard of a bullet breaking in half, hope the thing was under warrenty.

Skeeter used to advertise a good bit seldom seen nowdays,Ranger still did and they also did a lot of bass org work in donating.Am curious as to how triton and stratos will be now under the same umbrella ranger is,as far as participating in bass tournament sponsorships, who is going to be top dog,or if one brand will be a sacrifice to keep the others afloat.

LOL, your post reminds me of both Gambler and Bullett boats.  I had contacted both companies regarding sponsorship of my show.

They both told me they were building all the boats they wanted to, and they didn't need to advertise any more than they were already doing in order to get the sales they wanted.  The only ad I ever saw for either was in Bass & Walleye Boat magazine.  And now that the magazine is defunct, I wonder how that's working for them????

Although, after knowing one guy that had his Gambler break in half on Lake Champlain, and the problems Doug has had with his, I don't think I want Gambler as a sponsor anyway….

Yeah I noticed yesterday sports channels had soccer on evry kind of playing game, then two hunting shows one on deer one on elk, this was a sat, used to one could watch bass masters reruns if nothing else.

Its not just the fishing industry its also the boating world,I see more ads for condoms than bass boats or boats in general and then only when what few fishing shows are on.They also have their share of companies who think word of mouth and they will become a household name yet ive never seen one let alone ridden in one,so really dont care if they do or dont its salestalk.

If ive never seen one except in a pic, never ridden in one it isnt so popular word of mouth will ever do it much good.

Yet an elk hunt is sponsered in aug,and a bowhunt for deer on a sat afternoon, not that im against either, just for a bit of fishing with someone.Years ago it was back to back from rainbows to fla flats fishing, now excited if i get a rerun of a crappiethon.

Doug, there's a lot of reasons why.  Here's some of the reasons why I believe what you've noticed is happening.

Companies in the hunting industry are more willing and able to invest in advertising and marketing.  Too many companies in the fishing industry feel that their product is "so good" that they don't need to advertise.  Or they believe the old saw that "Word of Mouth advertising is the best."  Or, in the case of companies like Zoom and Yamamoto, they believe that they're big enough, enough people will buy their products anyway, and they don't need to advertise.  AND, there are many companies that insist on spending their marketing budget sponsoring tournament anglers.  Then again, there are many companies that start out underfunded and have spent their money on product development, not considering that they need money to market the product.

Believe me when I tell you that I've heard every excuse imaginable as to why a company cannot or will not sponsor a television show.  Yell

On TV hunting shows seemingly run 24 hours a day, irrespective of the season. Why is it that hunting shows seem to thrive while fishing shows struggle to last a season????
