After yesterday, I've decided that life is indeed good. And the good part started on Wednesday.
After we moved into the house, I noticed that the ditch in front of the house had some fairly severe erosion problems, one of them large enough to snag the tire of a garden tractor and stop it in its tracks, and the other one was starting to undercut the blacktop road.
So a couple of weeks ago, Janet and I stopped in at the Henry Country Highway Department and asked if anything could be done to get rid of the two problems. We talked to one of the foremen and he said that he'd see what could be done. And then, with it being so darned dry, I promply forgot about it.
Well, Wednesday an entire crew showed up! They recut part of the ditch, lined it all with big chunks of limestone (?), patched where the road was beginning to wash away, and even brought in a load of gravel for the end of my driveway, spreading it out and making the end of my driveway a little wider! They did an amazing job.
Then, Wednesday afternoon, we got a phone call from the local heating/cooling place, telling us that there'd be a crew at the house Thursday morning to install our new heat pump!
So although my "new motorcycle" is cleverly disguised as a Trane heat pump and attached to the house, life is good! The house is nice and cool, the heating/cooling unit is quieter and much more efficient than the old unit, and we'll even get a rebate from the government that'll pay for part of the unit!
