Well they tend to change the rules, they created a regiional now defunct, they said no pouints from elsewhere other than region ,now again they permit those just not for regional pt champ.

Its been a rule for some time now aoy wins a boat np anyone wins a boat np but can win only 1 per season,so if you have one already (won one) can fish but cannot win a second boat. You can win the T and second place then gets the boat,as you already won one.

Having its roots in MBA many years back several times it was the point leader gained the the title angler of the year and an associate cannot or could not win it but did, awarded to second place.

So an assiaciate could have the total pts and not be aoy,yet won a boat if he won the T,come in second or third be sol even though he had the most pts.(Believe they were sued over that several times) thus possibly why now days aoy can be an associate.

Last but not least get on their list and they tend to do things to you.last year their was i believe a discrempency about a guy who had total pts and wasnt pt leader, under the rules ten years  ago hed a been angler of the year. Its all about money, and amount of people the T can generate to bring to a town, and they tend to exagerate a bit.

previously before the regionals and no points elsewhere, any gotten anywhere counted towards point leader AOY,there were or was no fishoff between aoy district leaders. This did give fla and tex guys a big advantage but who cares,we also went to sc etc and fished it all counted.

The nationals themselves determined who was aoy (he had to be military) and then whoever was first place in the T got a boat as well, providing he wasnt aoy and already had won one.

They tend to groom some-Chris Bullock-who still fishes bass and also aba -notice rules changed there as well can fish up to 3 pro T and still fish aba, ther are guys who fish the whole string of flw and fish aba,to me thats an infraction and a blind eye on their part.

So it all boils down to what list your on.

As it stands he should be able to fish however that said they are a private org and have the right to change their minds even though they wont change yours.

They also tend to monkey around with some military like the coast guard anyone with 700 pts would make the team just not that many of them fishing now firemen, police, private army from iraq etc got in the cg section.????

If this has been long and lengthy and you realise that nothing is written in stone and they hold the chisel its served its purpose. Its their org and they make the rules.

Seldom do many like what they announce.

And whats done is generally done for $ and has nothing to do with you,or your sport in general.

Okiee dokiee… stockin' up on h' toads.

And…. y'all can plan on gettin' taken to dinner when I get there and probably several times more while I'm there – check or no check.

I had heard that the guy that won the boat last year in the National angler of the year competition on Wheeler was not allowed to fish the Nationals. I don't know if there's any truth to that or not. But if it's true it sure seems a crappy way to run a National Tournament. I understand the desire by ABA to have as many winners as possible but still… The guy fished all year long and qualified for the Nationals but because he was good enough to win AOY was not given the opportunity to increase his winnings and offset the meager payout some districts have durning the year. LM… you seem up on the rules n' regs…. is there any truth to the statement that the National AOY is not allowed to fish the Nationals?

Well, Zoom only makes one size of Horny Toad, so that makes it simple.

As far as color, I've done well on black, junebug, watermelon candy and watermelon green.  Any other color selections might work too, but I started with those colors and have had success.

I could easily cap it boat not included as they inflate the price considerably, but at same time could use a motor ,problem is theirs are black.I said it as more of a joke.

.Steve most likly could put you on the same places, one word of warning however since ramp here will be taken up by aba if im fishing it will be where those 14 -15 lbs a day are at,but it wont hurt it any,we had to share it with for or five other boats and had 17 plus, had previously fished it for almost two months and she just kept putting out.

It would be very possible to have a 20 lb day there for just one person, some are lost as dont wait for you to come in an getem, some just go away at boat side, and generally those that do are more weight than in the boat currently.Stout rods lmber tips, braid, horney toads, floating frogs, worms, pads galore.Every day then they will drop the lake and care must be taken getting in,its about 2 ft deep average then, and chock full of commode flushes.

Id say take us all out to dinner when you cash that check.

If you put a cap on that offer…. say 10% of the highest cash award we might could work something out… But if, by chance, I were to win the boat there's no way I could afford to pay 10% of the over inflated retail value they assign to those prize boats. Even on my own I feel pretty comfortable I'll be able to compete. I've got a fair amount of experience fishing all different types of lakes. A lot the anglers going to Nationals only have experience on their home lakes which typically are waaaaay different than what they encounter at say Pickwick or Kentucky Lakes.

What color/size horny toads??? Yell

Well Doug I shure have the room, unfortunately bewteen either waking my wife up in the am or disturbing any one of my five dogs you wouldnt survive to make it to the boat ramp.

Staying even in paris 18 miles away one would pay 43 bucks for the  cheapest motel room available and not like it,48 and not to shabby, near teh lake most likly booked already the lake motel tad higher, but with eating place nearby(Seatons),then theres the resorts that have rooms, buchanan and cyprus bay.

My humble opinion at 60 a night the house is a far better place to be in as can cook in it.7-8 min drive at best, with a complete kit one can have at least have  cold drinks even if you dont want to cook. You can of course take a walk at any motel and buy one out of a machine, somewhat dependent on what that machine has.

Steve just recently moved from springville to puryear which is 35 min away.so at a guess since we are the only two nearby your sol.

I would of course put you on fish,14-15 lbs a day three days running for 10 percent of the purse.Stock up on horney toads.

I'm looking for a room in the Paris, Tenn. area for the ABA Nationals. I'll be competing for National Angler of the year on Saturday Oct. 2(Practic/pre-fish Friday Oct. 1st.). Then Prefishing for the National Championship Oct. 3-5 then finally the National Championship competiton Oct. 6-8.

I'll be heading out each day before daylight and returning around sundown. Don't drink but do smoke. Don't smoke in my own house and certainly wouldn't in yours unless you do. Would like to be able to make coffee each morning but that isn't required. Just a bed and a place to plug the in the charger for the boat.

Was going to stay in the house that Li'l Mule told me about with some of the dist. 51 guys. But I was around them all weekend and was disappointed to see no one helping each other trailer in and out. Very little talking or chatting. Just didn't seem like a very friendly group. Very much unlike Dist. 119. Other dist. 51 tournaments I've fish there were a number of guys from 119 fishing as well and now I realize it was us that made the conversation n' small talk prior to blast off.

Anyway… looking for a room if anyone is looking for some money…. might be an opportunity here…. :>)
