KYL and Barkley lake maps… Found a site that has decent maps… not great but decent and free… And…. it even has 179 although it doesn't go all the way back to the sweet spot on the map…. Here's a sample of the Paris Landing segment…

Yeah it's easy to confuse…. Navionics does market hotmaps… but the maps I purchased are "Fishing HotSpot" maps or simply know as HotSpots…. vs hotmaps.

Got the Navionics Lake Explorer DVD on the way… That may help a bunch as well…

Its confusing as thought navionics made hotmaps, and those paper ones are like steves gps ones, get to the edge an fall off.

Yours being newer should show more than mine.

Oh… and my Navionics chip for Barkley goes well past Columbia… I suppose all the way to the headwaters if one chose to go that far – and could.

Li'l Mule…. it's the paper map that I have from HotSpots that is lacking. My eastern division chip from Navionics goes well past 179. I appreciate the offer to use your unit. When I get there we'll compare detail level of yours n' mine. If yours has significantly greater detail and the offer still stands I may well take you up on it!

Is there a local place that has maps of the southern end of KYL?

Tried telling you it was lacking, and you have the same map steve does once out of paris landing its useless south of the big sandy. And yes they do make one for south, just as they make one for Barkley, then about llike over past dover it ends thus you need a third chip called the rivers sections, past about I 40 would need a river sectiions on ky as well,it is so they sell you chips. At 120 or whatever a pop the preload adds about 200 to the price of your unit and its free of such problems.

Simple solution bolt mine on its ant is internal only a power hookup, but bolt it on well as it cost me 750.And worth every penny.

Ordered Hot Spot lake makes for Kentucky and Barkley. I got two for KYL and one for Barkley. There are two for barkley but with North/South division the division point is the hwy. 68 bridge. Well… the southern portion goes to only a couple of miles past Dover. Rest assured I have spots well south of that I'll be checking out. At least on the paper map I do have contour lines in the major and minor creeks. It's not great, being at 5' contour lines but… it's better than the hotmaps HD electronic lake map. It also show the creek channels in both the major and minor creeks. Now about them KYL maps

Only two were available from HotSpot maps. From the KYL dam to the Ky/Tn state line and from Blood River to Big Sandy. Welp… At the mouth of Big Sandy, where it intersects with the Tenn. River… The map show all of big sandy but none…. absolutely none of the Tenn. River. And HotSpots doesnt' make a map that goes beyond the mouth of Big Sandy.

All of this suggest one thing… Most anglers not familiar with either lake may well stay in the areas defined by the maps – which would be a real good thing.

But anyway… got the paper maps and they give me the opportunity to see the "BIG" picture rather than 5″'s at a time!

Last year I got Navionics paper maps of Picwick and didn't really like them much a'tall. So figured I'd go with HotSpot this time around. I know this… they are waaaay less expensive, 7.95 per vs the navionics maps. I don't recall the exact price but 20 bucks wouldn't be too far from being right.
