Recently I ordered and received a few Lhur Jensen Hotlips crankbaits. For those not familiar with them they come with speed clips instead of split rings. Not being a fan of the speed clips I was preparing to replace them with standard split rings but… I thought about the oval split rings from either lucky craft or BPS. Not wanting to pay Lucky Craft prices nor make the trip to Bass Pro Shop I went to Fishing Tackle Unlimited in search of them. While I did not find the ovals I was looking for I did find some made by Excalibur. These are not oval split rings they are tear drop shaped. After thinking for a bit it seemed to me that they would permit greater movement than the oval so I went ahead and got some. Never used'em before… heck never even seen'em before. Anyone ever use the tear drop shaped Excalibur split rings?
