I've pretty much narrowed down my braided line to three strengths for my bassin' and general fishing.

I use 10 lb. on my spinning tackle, 30 lb. for general spinnerbaiting and slightly more open water fishing, and 50 lb. for frogging and heavy cover fishing.

So far, it's done well for me, but I do have a couple of my large reels spooled with 85 and 100 lb. braid for muskies.

But that is some pretty specific fishing conditions and LARGE lures.

If I had to nail it down to one braid for baitcasting, it'd be 50 lb. braid, either PowerPro or High Seas brand.

Steve actually uses the ten pd on senkos and flukes when fish are suspended and finiky it beats my 20lb.A lot depends upon where one throws those baits not so much the bait itself or what its thrown on,20lb works in anything but a lot of cover worming, jigging mostwould use 45 fro wrestleing them out of say a stump jungle or mat.Topwater frogs like teh horney toad 30lb and for floaters 45 and up sometimes gorilla braid which is 85.Bear in mind the heavier the line often less casting distance.

And cranks and jerkbaits are better suited for mono,as it gives,if one must use braid with them rod should be a buggy whip.

I have a braid rod designed for just that , practically useless, while it works its like using ultra light tackle on steelhead.Like going on an african safari with a 38 pistol, first trophy your going after is a black rhino. They work but exceedingly slow, and one can be much better armed.

Braid is not the complete all around answer, other types of line work better in some instances.

That said I often use 30 lb evolution on a glass rod for topwater as dislike having 18 dollar baits go bye bye with a striper.

Okay,  So I tried and love using 10# Power Pro on my spinning reels. What Lb braid should I use on my baitcasters? I will be using the Baitcasters for flipping, cranks, jerks and some plastics. Ii was thinking of either 30 or 50?
