On many of the navionics chips one has to enlarge,in order to see smaller depth countours,ok when off plane but to enlarged to run on as would be looking at 100-200 ft in front of you.

If you have the navionics cd for computer  its  the same does not show those others till you scroll in.So upon setting down scroll in to view nearby contours

Yeah, I thought it was interesting as well. You do have to do some zoomin' in n' out to read some of it. I just ordered Barkley and KYL paper maps. Looking at those navigation maps showed me just how poor the Navionics chip is once you get off of the main lake/river. I understand some of them may indeed be mud flats but not all of them… There's only a few places off the main lake that show contour lines – at any resolution. I made some bad decisions when fishing Lake Livingston here in Texas for the first time based on the Navionics chip. It was the same issue. Get off the main lake and the detail goes to hell in a hand basket. It's good for navigating but until the level of detail covers the whole lake you simply can not be without a good paper map.

Interesting, I'm going to have to study that some more!  I've been meaning to fish Barkely more often, heck it's only another ten minutes further down Hwy. 79.
