Well the second start is why I left things at home like the camera had put it back on teh charger was working on the allison when steve called back and said lets go,got the brakes fixed.

And really was using mono on the carrot stix rod bet should have used the 20 lb power pro,or even better had my spinning rod along with its braid.

The water temp 10 days prior had bee 47 f and largemouth shallow hitting jerkbaits, but discolored, lake warmer yet clearer and under a front moving in figgure those fish just moved a tad not much,be a few days and a warm spell they be right back on the rocks good.

Like the report you heard ,also had had them in same depth just on offshore humps or flats, but you have to admit by the house for sale sign was still good to some extent just a different bait.

And as a morning bite rather than the afternoon one ,most likly due to the aforementioned front.

Give them another 5 deg and the abuttments shold be chock full, wish I do know what we were marking that one area 6 to 8 ft deep but figure crappie.

The dbbb its a tad early for,but wont be long.

I cant complain went off half baked came back happy anyway.Cool

Just glad things got sorted out for you boat wise.

I think we'd have done a lot better getting an earlier start, but when one of your trailer tires is just dragging, that means a little later start to your fishing!  The brakes had rusted and the shoes were almost welded to the drums!

It did feel great to be on the water and even though four of the six were shorts, they all felt great.  Now if I was fishing a tournament, I would have felt differently, but this was just for fun and it felt great!!!

With the water temps such as they were, there was absolutely no sign of even an attempt at spawning.  I'm guessing that there's still time.

Good to get out on the lake after a long absence…. Glad ya' figgured them out to some degree and managed to get some stinky fingers! On Falcon with that water temp I was catching them in 2 foot of water or less on jigs. But I think those fish had been trying to move up. And perhaps had moved up and were at the stage where cooler water wasn't going to run'em off. But none of'em showed signs of spawing at that time….

Well, after a LOT of frogging around (livewell issues, instrument panel wiring and trolling motor), I finally decided to get out on the lake.  I called Lil Mule and he came over with his fishing gear.

Putting the truck in drive, I pulled out of the parking spot, only to find that I had three of four wheels on the trailer turning.  One was locked up TIGHT!

So, Lil Mule went home while I tried to free up the wheel.  After managing to free up the wheel, I called Lil Mule and away we went.

The boat amazingly fired up right away and we went out to try some new spots on the lake.  We found 54 – 57 degree water while out with the warmer water being back in the bays.  There was no weeds located anywhere.

So we threw hard jerkbaits, soft jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, the old Double Barrelled Bass Blaster, crankbaits and never got a bite until I dragged out the old classic, a wacky rigged stick bait.

Using that lure in watermelon green with red/green flecks, I managed to scratch out some bites, landing six largemouth.  Two of them measured beyond the 15 inch minimum, and the rest were short of the mark.

But all in all, a good day…
