Navionics cd,my gold is almost the same, and does show more when zoomed in,your correct in that more costly do more things some hoever on some lakes show more detail.

As for Barkley it has to be there to show, look at that one map I put up showing bumpus mills,it however was from a usgs site, actual twon itself has no contour edges as its flat, just about right height to knock a lower unit off,by the point and channel however it does show a difference, over on barkley any difference is or means a lot.The farther north one goes the more difference one can find, yet still flats where towns were at all the way to the dam.

And platnum will show more than gold providing one has a unit that can utilise it all,a cheap unit that can barely run gold wont show what mine can with it,so unit and map go hand in hand for results.Platnum will actually run on mine but do no better than gold,as the unit hasnt that much memory or capability.

What map program did you use to post the previous maps????

I believe you're incorrect when you say the more a map chip cost the greater the detail. My research indicated that if the map is HD… It's HD across the board. The more you pay the more coverage(more lakes) and features you get - 3D capablilities, photos, and stuff like that. But the base map is the same. I have a premium hotmaps for the central region and has the same affliction, lack of detail, off the main lake on on lakes here in Texas.

Over here in Texas we call it zooming in or zooming out. You can believe I've zoomed in down to 1/8mile will go lower but indicates "over-zoom" whatever that means. On the barkley map precious few of the coves show any detail at all – zero, zip, nada…. Saline Creek shows some but no more than 1/3 of the way back. Neville shows nothing. Now on the other hand I see conture lines most of the way back into 179, even past the bridge….

Gps or cd like navionics hotmaps all give more detail when scrolled in,so upon landing use that feature to view all depth contour changes. Each map version showing more than a lesser costly map, premium, gold, silver, reg hotmaps.

The follwing is from navionics cd which is almost idential to my gold preload, other than fish here largemouth basss etc.

Note color settings of depth lost, that can be changed under settings, but it shows a lot more detail,my gps screen goes to same level of detail, one howevr cant run well on plane with it that enlarged,as would not show other banks on same screen. It does however show differences of a 1 ft variation.
