Lot of it is lack of rain,no current yet cool in the bay itself, some bass are still back there just over on the other side where its a tad deeper and no way to get a conventional boat over there.

The industrail T was won back in the back by two guys in a john with a mud buddy 17 pds

Yes they could pull back out with a tad bit of rain or the forage moving into it,wouldnt count on it.

Deeper water on the lake side of the brige had them busting some yet not hiting much,so shad are moving into the bay at least the deeper part.

And what the guy we ran into did is even with what ive been told or seen lately near the mouths of bays is the best right now, grass main lake is near it and near seep water he caught 4 keepers one at about 4 1/2 all on a black midnight(red) spro jr frog.

So your best fiishing will be from the rr bridge south, bass bay, other bays along the way to check for topped grass, then farther at newjofnsonnville and birdsong, but anywhere in between may find some in small cuts and bays and on main lake down there at birdsong.

Your astute and will just have to adjust accordingly, but he deeper ledge bite is not normally what one should be looking for, this time of year with no current.

A hump or ledge 4 ft to 8 ft in the main with grass yes,a 16 ft deep dropoff no,and activity plays a lot into it see none get few bites, see some then get bit.

Still say unweighted senko, fluke and a frog, along with a horny toad for ky lake.

On Barkley the paca craw plays a role all by itself along with a bandit 100 in rootbeer in 2 -3 ft deep creeks. And if any grass or pads the frogs.

Barkley it is 18 in on small mouth,ky lake its 15 across the board for all as exempt.

I totally agree with your assessment.  Grass near deep water will be the ticket.  The problem is, the flooding we had this spring has greatly reduced the grass beds.  Areas that were loaded with grass last year are barren this year!  So, if I can, I'll be doing some running around on the lake to see if I can find the grass before you get up here.

Dang fellas… you'uns startin' to scare me now…. If the problem actually is low water… it ain't apt to get any higher in the next two weeks barin' some funky weather system moving in. The other reports I've been reading are saying mouth of bays. Some activity in the back of coves at times but not consistent yet. Virtually every report I've read still says at this time ledges is the best bet but they add that the fall transition has begun, schools of smaller shad are moving back into pockets and coves and LMB are following them. All indications are the annual migration from the ledges to the coves/pockets has begun and in two weeks should be in full swing.

My assessmet: Finding grass near deep water will probably put a limit in the boat pretty quick. Only problem is it's going to be 2-3#ers. If a body could get 5 – 3# fish each day he'd have a fair shot at a good finish. But 5 – 2#ers per day won't be a top finish but should draw a check. If 179 doesn't produce that's what I'll be looking for. Grass near deep water(deep being relative). Grass on a creek channel in the back of a cove would be a good place to find.

9 days a'fore I light the fuse n' head that'a way!

Yes, it was tougher than all get out today.  And the only reason why I can think of is that the water levels are about two feet lower than they should be.  We need to check out that main lake grass, with that being nearer to the river channel, there should be some fish in there moving from deep to shallow, coming in to feed.

But I have to do some filming this coming week, hopefully I can get out and get some additional areas scoped out…

And I've been busy all afternoon and evening helping the neighbor out with some computer issues, so I haven't even looked at the raccoon pictures….

Slow and slower, tuff, mission impossible,179-182 almost devoid of fish unless one has an airboat or mud buddy to get to the back creeek area, other than that out by the bridge some bass busting, most aparently on something a fluke doesnt emulate well.

Good news though is main lake grass is available down that way. There is at least one 20 lber back in there-a buffalo carp.

Horny toad got 0ne 14 in fish, sevearal near swirls on a floating frog, some large fish quite evindent near deeper water where the bridge area is,no current takes a place where it narrows down to get any even if created by wind, temp was lower than expected in the creek 72 this morning,75 afternoon.

How did the coon pics come out?
