May be that you can go fishing ,just not anything like the southern part at all, deeper in general, launch just above the bridge in the state park in lil river, cattails hold bass they do hit floating frogs or buzzers, then go the next bunch ,back end up river towards another bridge it does or did have veggies -grass.

I dunno… but here's what the flyer says…

Just guessing bet it and ky are both offlimits,as for any other lake they are 2 hrs away, one smaller one around huntingdon 1 hr,1 hr west and the obion watershed if you have a john boat plenty of pads and water cypress stumps, with more than a fair share of cottonouths.

Last time Steve and I were down at 179 a juvinile kept wanting to climb in the splashwell had to shove it off twice with a rod tip.

Always check it prior to leaving, they like to curl up in it,and may want to wander around once on plane. Are sorta strong minded as well and have a natural dislike for just about everything.

Cooler temps will help a lot,in that respect.

Just dawned on me today…. I plan on getting there the afternoon of the 28th. Nothing scheduled for the 29th 'cept getting licenses if I don't already have'em when I get there. I'd talked to Steve about any near by lakes that we might could fish on the 29th. Then…. today… realized we can probably fish barkley north of the hwy 68 bridge and be just fine. I'm gonna call ABA tomorrow to confirm this is OK. IF it is it should give some kinna clue as to what the fish are doing on Barkely – and probably KYL as well….

Needing to get out a lil bit ,took 5 rigged rods down to paris landing state park,al floating frogs and one horney toad.

The road comes close to a small bay chock full of lilly pads,do I catch keepers there yes when the water is up,it has a very narrow entrance the beavers have attempted to close down even further.

Getting a boat in isnt possible till its at least 358,and lacking a lot of depth in the entrance once the water hits 357 everything of any size vanishes as doesnt want to spend the winter in there.

It is different in that respect to other pad water farthere south which does have a deep water entrance year round.

The pads in the shallows now exposed on the north side just as they would be down south, and due ti cooler temperaturesw those in teh center now bloomng again.

Horny toad 4 fish, floating frog 2 fish, rat 1 fish, some as small as ten in some about 13,all taking the baits fully and rather easily considering their size. This in about 1 hr,had the water been deeper at the entrance then many would have been keepers, down south Im sure they would have been.

Most of the hits occured in lil 1 ft spaces between pads nothing in larger open spaces at all, seemed like they were hugging the stalks.

Point is they are hitting top now.
