I'm so glad you had a good time on Manson.  As I've said in the past, it was easily one of my favorite lakes to fun fish on.  There are numbers, and there is size for just about any species of fish that populate the lake.  About the only thing I haven't caught on that lake of any size is northern pike.

But until such time as people stop referring to northern pike as "slimers," and the Wisconsin DNR starts to manage the species as the trophy it could be, it'll be much easier to catch a big muskie than a big northern!

I remember the last people I took to Manson.  It was a young couple on their honeymoon and they wanted to just have a good time fishing.  Probably about this same time of year, we went to Manson.  She had never caught a fish on an artificial lure and she proceeded to "clean up" on bass that day.  She did catch one six pound smallmouth and two casts later, lost one even bigger when it jumped and came off.

Manson is a great lake, isn't it?  Cool

A great fishing report and I look forward to hearing from you again on other trips!!!

Just returned from a week on Manson lake.I had asked Steve for info as this was my first time on this lake. His assesment of the bass fishing was dead on. This lake is infested with Bass! Large and smallmouth.Caught nothing huge.Biggest largemouth 19″ around 4 pounds and a 18' smallie. But the numbers made up for it.Fished the numerous rock bars and the deep weed edge in the southwest end of the lake.Drop shot rigs, wacky rig senkos in green pumpkin and black and white super flukes twitched over the steep drops and weed edges all produced. Even caught Bass on Cowgirls and Tallywackers Musky fishing. Speaking of Musky fishing, caught a 31″ on my first day on about my tenth cast.Had two more follows in the next hour and a half, one being a mid forties" fish.My brother in law and 10 year old nephew had more action then i did Bass fishing. They had numerous fish try to eat their bass including one they said was high forties grab a two pound bass and about spool my nephew be fore it bit him off.I was fishing Muskies the "conventional" way and did not have that kind of action.Figures.Damn Muskies! Great action lake for Bass and im sure there are large fish present.Just have to weed through the smaller ones.Im planning an October trip for Muskies. This lake has it all. Good weed edges and a lot of rock.Looking foward to October.
