I think for the most part. north of paris landing other than some schooler action on several points you can just about forget.Grass isnt plentifull, didnt you find some one day fishing in big sandy fishing off the bank?

That minoe bit over near the long pointed cove and the rr bridge and some in the back end of the

wildlife area are about all ths between here and the rr bridge that one can visually see.

Port road had a small amount.

Even as far down as birdsong on main lake its lacking but can be found in the bays in places,to me that makes any alternate type even more usefull, reeds, lilly pads.

As for ledges they are all over but also takes current,my own assesent of a ledge bite in oct is about 12-14 pds having difficulty repeating it three days in a row. Now if one pulled up found one chock full of good fish, and there every day toss that out the window, does happen.

Let it rain for a few days prior does happen as currrent, but let it be 24 cfs or less and be wishing.

Since we have pools all the time for boats why not weight-3 days-41 pds

Im being nice guessing about 3 pds more than I normally would

Well, I'm sure the fish are still around, but finding them will probably mean fishing less obvious spots like ledges.  Which sucks….

I think weather conditions and water temperature will play a larger factor in fish location as well.

One thing I did forget to put in my original report is when I was leaving the islands to the north, an Asian Grass Carp came flying out of the water right alongside the Triton!  The thing was easily 20 pounds or better and definitely NOT something that I wanted to see….

When not getting bit then one does and its around grass funky or not you need to find more of the same, and is from there south, other side of the rr bridge in bass bay has some as well, first cove on the right when you go past the bridge also several ledges staright up from the bridge.

Just not near as much grass this year, and one ha to look for what lil there is where one could walk across it last year.

Even around pads they are herding mostly on the outsides for some reason not just as we saw at 179 but the state park pads as well, one has to await activity then toss in,horney toads and floaters work then .Oddly buzzbaits do not most of the time.Surface popper will when they are in that mood.

Most of them are chasing small bait and other than when being active dont respond well to something 4 times the size.

One of the reasons the dbbb works looks like a pod of baitfish when viewed quickly.

Other wise it justs looks like good water your throwing to.

We all have bad days.

Lol I even got a letter from texas today.

When I have days like that I do one of two things. I either make a drastic change in the way I'm fishing where I'm at. Extreme deep or extreme shallow is one example. If that doesn't work… I make a drastic change in location. I'll either travel real close to the dam or way tha' heck up the river(my usual choice). IF I can't make the run way up the river I try to locate a major cove/creek… whatever. And get as far back in that tributary as possible and… yeah… you guessed it – Jig!

I went out yesterday, after having a couple rough days.  So thoroughly in a bad mood, I figured that if I went out solo, I at least couldn't ruin another's day.

I hit the water about 7:30 and ran north on the lake to the Kentucky line.  There are some islands up there that last year produced very well for Lil Mule and I.  Shutting down well away, I eased in to the shoreline of the island only to find no weeds at all!  I tried a Carolina Rig and a jig where I had marked some fish on a point.  I couldn't get bit.

I checked out another area that should have held a bunch of grass, and there was little if any grass there too.  And no fish that would bite either…

I then ran to the bridge and pitched a senko style lure rigged wacky, and I picked up a short, 14″ bass.  But that was only one of three bites at the bridge, both from the pilings, as well as from the rock/rubble shoreline.

I then worked around the corner, heading east along the highway on the north side.  Throwing spinnerbaits and alternating with a Carolina Rig, I worked my way east and north along the east shoreline all the way to the small island, nothing!

From there I went and hit some main lake points with a Carolina Rig and while I got a couple bites, no fish…  They just hit it once and drop it!

Then I went south of the bridge and fished a little cove that has produced in the past.  While I did see some shad bust, spinnerbaits, flukes, stickbaits and the C-rig went untouched.

Further south is another bay with a long slinky point.  I fished both sides of the point with a C-rig for nothing.

Inside the bay was a different story though.  There was some funky looking grass in the inside bend.  I threw a pearl fluke and on about the third cast, it got hammered.  Finally a solid hookup and a largemouth just shy of three pounds came and went into the boat.  Fish #2 bit in about three feet of water.

I flipped, pitched and skipped various lures underneath two of the boat docks without any success.

From there I went to Hole #7, only there were no weeds and no fish in the usual spot, and there wasn't anything I could find on the break either.

From Hole #7, I then went back to the highway bridge, only this time I went east on the south side of the bridge.  Normally, the back end of the bay is chock full of weeds and I've pulled fish from there in the past.  This time, there were no weeds and no fish.

By this time, I was hot, sweaty, slightly sunburnt and it was 2:30 in the afternoon.  So I headed back to the ramp.  Weatherwise, it wasn't all that bad.  The air temp was 88 and the water temps according to my boat was 86.5 degrees.

I talked to three other guys back at Paris Landing.  One guy caught a couple short fish, one guy didn't catch anything and the other caught one….
