Yep, they'd have found me still in the treestand with soiled britches after having a heart attack seeing that beast if I'd had a bow in my hands.

Was probably thirty and only hunting in my fourth year when I had one come in at ten yards to hit his scrape.  I was ground hunting back then, and buck fever hit me so bad I thought I was going to die right there with the bow at full draw.  I couldn't hold the bow steady, and the sight pin was going round and round like the main rotor of a helicopter.  I finally had to let off, and duck behind the tree until I quit shaking, and could breathe again.  I'd stopped counting points at fifteen.  That same condition hit me for the next four years until I began hunting from a treestand, then the malady evaporated like I'd never had it.  I don't count points, or look at mass any longer, I decide, shooter/non-shooter, and either draw, center, release, or sit back and watch the deer and learn something.

What a HOG~!~

On November 30, 2009, Brian Stephens entered the Boone & Crockett record book with a whitetail buck that might hold a record for quite a long time!

The 18 point monster, taken with a .50 caliber muzzleloader scores an incredible 235 inches, but that's not the whole story.  The main beams measure over a record breaking 34.5 inches each!  A whitetail deer with main beams of 30 inches is rare indeed, the previous record was 33.5 inches and Stephens' buck's main beams measure over a full inch longer!

While this buck still has to wait the sixty day drying period for official scoring, it's an amazing animal and one that will be hard to beat!

Congratulations Brian Stephens!
