Actually the ten in jackplate lets me plane it easier,by lifting it up triming down then as bow lifts run plate down it tips over easier, and most likly due to 24P prop instead of about a 22,and pushed by about 120 hp.

Several guys are running 12 in with 260-280 on them, and one is running 15,dont see how as they sit low anyway.

Ive always run bandaids they help assist getting on plane and keep bow down in rough water, tad off maybe in tuning dunno, not much, linkage more than anything and its adjustments.

The sputtering when deep is when water comes up to the exaust ports, via a wave lap.

There is more water coming out of those two exhaust holes than say any pea hole ive ever seen, just not in a single way out arc one could se from inside the boat without standing up almost on it and looking behind.

Bottom line work still to be done it is a put put fishing mota that most likly will do 60 mph,if eq with a low water nose cone 65 would be in the ball park.

Would the alley sit better with a 6 in jp possibly but dont have a hydraulic 6 in one to try,and it does sit a tad higher with the small rude than the big rude, but due to it being run deeper I presume some backwash when coming off plane,so minor turn and gradual slowdown is in order.

Ok… 'least ya' got something to work with…

Poor hole shot probably isn't caused by the engine being low. But…. that 10″ jackplate could be the culprit. Iffen it were me… that'd be the first thing I'd address. As you noted being stuffed down in the water at idle it may be loading up from too much back pressure. That could be the stutter/stumble on launch. But atleast you're back on the water and tinkerin' again!

Well, first off, I'm glad you finally got the Allison back on the water.  But, I'd say you need to insure that the motor is fully tuned and running properly.

A whale tail, if you ask me is either used for VERY special circumstances (i.e. drag boats) or when a boat has something wrong with its set-up.  My guess is that something still needs to be adjusted on your motor, and something is still wrong with your set up if the boat doesn't get on plane in a reasonable amount of time and distance.  A whale tail isn't really solving the source of the problem, it's more like putting a band-aid on the problem…

Yeah, you've got some work yet, but it sounds like you should have it going.

Took the alley out this morning, ramp was full almost, guys practicing for T tomorrow and sat.

Fires right up,runs a tad to fast at idle,if one takes the foot and pulls back a tad on the foot throttle does settle down some but not enough, then because possibly its so deep sputters a bit,or slightly out of tune dunno.Raise it at idle does dissipate yet also gains speed about 6 mph then.

Getting on plane isnt real easy,as deep and no whale tail ,trimming it out ran smooth, then i realised i hadnt changed the tach settings set for a v6 on 4 not on 2 for a 4 cyl.

So want going to wot it not knowing what acutl rpms there were, got it to 36 mph kept it there to hole 7,fished it got 1 short.

Running back got it up to 48 mph,had fair amount of peddle left, boat will most likly do 60 without any mods done to it like a low water nose cone run higher up.

So have work to be done on the throttle, also my psi and temp guage to getand install for later slightly higher operation currently about 4 1/2 below, just not taking any chances.

Until then do have a boat I can get out with, again that throttle linkage needs some work,as it stands let off the gas its still on pad for a ways, till you take foot and pull back a tad.
