Yes lucky, but a lot of ths motor was done at the factory being a limited edition so they could race it,not exactly a motor joe blow could buy off the shelf and go fishing with its a 3L engine.

Like taking a 280 merc out to do a lil fishing, can be done but not exactly a long term solution,as they need a tad more care and more often rebuilding at 140 lb compression, still 87 oct but close .

Be a week to get the parts in,shortly thereafter and on double oil for a bit.

Well, in this case it's good that you have such large exhaust ports or you might have ended up with a trashed powerhead!

When's it going to be done and back on the water?

Yup,after losing number six cyl and a chunk actually out of it found out why not much damage done, the exaust ports are so large it just went out the exhaust, one scratch hopefully a hone may take care of most of it.But disassembly showed a lot of porting, and a micrometer showed the stock piston at 3.2 L,yes stock with stock markings stamped on the pistons. This is a 200 hp by the way.

Naturally they had sought to improve even this so cut away a bit of unnneeded weight, also had put half needle bearings in,replacing those with full bearings.

This is a huge displacement motor, work on it mostly factory resembles that of a 260-280 merc more than an omc.

Its a wonder this one isnt on the  LiquidNervana web site.
