Yup… that's what I was saying…. 2 grp. 24's staying with the 12v tolling motor he has now. I just used the 24v/110# thrust as an example of why a single 24v on the 55# thrust would tax the single battery.

If I recall he was also not wanting to have to buy a 24 v,while it would be best to have it is more money.Since you fish a lot of troller only lakes, buy a second battery and put in parallel, neg to neg,pos to pos, should last all day long ,just take longer to recharge.

Just one battery staying on a 12 v troller all day long would not be operating at full potential.

I dunno Andy…

If you think about it this way… IF… you had a similar set up with a 24v you'd have 110# of thrust(just doubled trust and voltage). Even at 82# of thrust on a 24v no one is going to recommend a grp. 24 battery.

55# 12v is pretty much the max trust you're gonna get from a 12v. So I suspect you'll be taxing the 24 grp. pretty heavy. Based on what you said in an earlier post "… trolling motor only lakes." – you might want to consider this….

Instead of chunkin' the Grp. 24 you have now and replacing it with a grp.27… and to reduce the cost of adding a battery… You may want to consider getting another grp. 24 battery and wiring them in parallel. Parallel wiring is simply taking two batteries and connecting negative to negative and positive to positive. Being as marine batteries typically have double post hooking up the trolling motor would not present an issue in this configuration.

Just a thought….

If you were going to a 24 v system, you would need another, since staying with 12 v id try it and see how long a charge lasts,if it lasts all day I wouldnt replace it,should be good for another 1 1/2 to 2 years.

My battery is : Energizer Deep Cycle Model E24DC-N

Cranking Amps 675

RC Minutes 140

Cold Cranking Amps 550

Age of Battery 5 Months Old

I know this is a Group 24 battery, it is good enough to power a 12 v 55lb thrust Trolling motor? Should I replace it with a Grp 27 Battery?

Thanks AF
