I'd try it first before spending money on another battery.  What have you got to lose?

The worst that's going to happen is your locator will cut out when you step on the trolling motor pedal.

THEN, if that happens with alarming regularity, you can buy another battery.

I would assume that your trolling motor and starting batteries are fairly close together, right?

I'd try it on one battery first and see how things work.  Then, if you're getting odd interferance or the locator cuts out try it on the other battery.

Then if that doesn't work out for you, get the accessory battery.  Normally though, Lil Mule is right and locators don't have a large drain on the batteries….

I have a pull start . So you think I should run both the TM and the FF off that one battery?

Generally when run off the trolling motor after using ahwile the fish finder blanks out as being robbed every time you hit the troller of needed voltage.

Most of the time its run off the existing start batttery,it takes very lil power,,but doesnt like power interuptions.

Others more in tune with your setup ,surely will post a comment.

My setup is this. I have a 24grp deep cycle battery for my 12v 55 LB Trolling Motor. I was going to run my Fish Finder Lowerance X135 off of that same battery. I looked at Cabelas and they have a 12 v rechargeable battery for 20.00. Should I run both TM and FF off the 24 grp deep cycle or get another battery for the FF?
