Well not a whole lot more Id replace every piston in it,and have them all the same age.
But new rings and a hone job ,one new piston and all new wrist bearings ,should come close to a renewal at least for a short time.
Doubt if all cyl will be exact ,but closer together and possibly higher overall.A difference of say 5 lbs isnt unexpected now one is ten, even that is acceptable standard for used, will have to run double oil as new rings and one new piston.
My hope is just to be able to use it not run races

Thinking of having a sitck on sign made up-Youve just been passed by a 20 year old boat.
LOL….. I suppose that's better'n a sign sayin' "you've just been towed in by a 20 year old boat." OR in my case it might read "You've just been rescued from treading water by a 20 year old boat!"
Rings n' required bearings is all ya' need.. funds or not. But say funds were not an issue… what else could/would you include?

Actually no dont blame allison, certainly and not omc, more myself, but cant exactly depend on a motor thats been raced and run and run, figgure any stock mota would make an excellant put put later on.Have never blown a pwoerhear or lost a lower, this is the first internal problem in about 20 year of boating ,some with black engines, even a chrysler, knock on wood.Replacing some bearings as they only had about 2/3 bearing on the wrist pins(for fast high reving),honing that one cyl,and replacing that one piston with a stock one, reringing all,out of funds then as no more .I inherited the motor with the boat not the nitrous bottle or the desire to use one.
107 in the 1/4 was acomplished with about a 150 shot of nitrous and had standard steering back then.
Plan on using it as long as it lasts, then maybe replace with a smaller hp more docile beast.
Considering my investment is no more than any prior boat about 7k ,not doing to bad overall as boat alone stripped would bring 5.
Piston should be here tomorrow or next day, time will tell.
Thinking of having a sitck on sign made up-Youve just been passed by a 20 year old boat.

I suspect you'll be the weiner… I mean winner! Dang computer just keeps miz'pellin'.
The further you move an engine away from stock configuration… the closer you get to when rather than if…. Can't put the onus on neither Allison nor OMC for hopped up motor failure. I ran OMC for years n' never had a problem with'em… well one time the electric shift wiring in the lower unit broke… while I was dead in the middle of the Galveston shipping channel… with a HUGE tanker bearing down on me… Also had a new '97 225 ProMax. 2 lower units and 3 power heads later… divorce ate it. But I will say Mercury was top notch with the warranty issues, which all of them were.
But back to the race. I'm going to have to make a special trip to BassPro shop to get the thru-the-hull fitting I need. I may splice the transducer cable this evening… and then again… I may not! But until I get the fitting the rigging compartment is at a stand still.
Why the fuel tank won't fit??? I really don't know what happened. It's not in an area "The Butcher of Welaka" worked on. But on the port side the deck has a low spot coming away from the bilge tunnel. It drops off about 2 inches or so such that the tank is missing contact with the deck by about 2″. I'm hoping it'll pull down with the z clamp and be just fine. The starboard side is fine so I'm not sure "why" there's the great depression on the Port side…
LM… glad you found a piston…. Hopefully you'll be runnin' double oil soon. Are you doing anything else while they're in the engine? New rings… bearings??? Getting the valves reground???? harharhar…..

And if there were an improvment I could possibly make it would be a brand spanking new 150 ho,less hp but all that i would ever need ,as wouild do 70 in an alley with 2 up,and a load.
The boat itself lacks a lot(storage and room) but can make do with it as all works,
I wanted one that wouldnt diswlove underneath me it wont, motor however being a former race engine is iffy. And dont really need 200 hp on steroids to bump it along.

Actually the allison had little to do with it ,being a stock bore omc did.over 20 or over 30 np,and this weekend found it over in nc,been there all along ,but where I had ordered from had gotten it in this morning ,but do have the other place as a reference now.
If recall your cookie cutter had almost the same motor on it without any hopups, should it need rebuilt at some point and time stock pistons are hard to come by,I do have a list of suppliers now,one that actually has it in stock.
While your list is smaller, front pedestal seat, troller, timers, they all at the time were rather perplexing, and somewhat irritating.Just less of it,and triton is a good boat, one of the most popular here on Ky lake, reasons it runs decent in rough water, runs fast enuff for T fishing and is resonably put together.
My personal viewpoint is they are however built for large fellas,im a half pint(130 lbs sopping wet),the allison fits me like a glove, and seeing no improvement financially for quite some time will be in it for quite some time, hopefully.

LOL, I'm glad I don't have one of those "high quality" boats like Gambler or Allison. Mine is just a cookie cutter Triton that simply keeps on going….
Although I'm sure one of these days I'll get bit in the butt and have something serious give me some downtime.

A phone call this morning proved my port side piston stock bore .350 is in stock now and they will ship,be up here wed or thereabouts. 435029 omc # Im lucky they wernt the fingerported version.
So Humpty is going back together again, who will be first on the water Doug or the lilmule.
What is a presidential solution drill a hole in the bottom?
And why dont it fit back in is bottom changed now?
Kinda sounds like it aint all put back the same?
Like take one apart and chaulk and put back together on the dotted lines they didnt do,or just go get a ten year old as they have trouble assembling or de assembling.
Hurry up get those outriggers on ,stabilizers and jib will have a river run.
