Anchored, moored, yeah can  understand think the idea is for the owner to protect it,not leave it place just because they have insurance.

Whats the odds of a named storm caving in your garage, and that would be covered by home owners insurance,I would think.

One within 50 miles of the coast is at risk so why leave it moored or anchored, and once they head inland generally get weaker. There are those that would merely because its pouring rain or just because it is insured.

High winds occured last year they called it a wind storm i went out and moved the allison and the jag due to being under a tree ,didnt want any damage regardless if covered or not.

Can see why you wouldnt mind a gamlber going with the wind, just make sure it aint a named storm that does it in.

Your fishing for one new boat Sat i think,Oct 2,your practice is what oct 1st on Barkley.

Water temp tad higher than last year,at 83F be dropping a hare more expect about 80,back ends of shallow bays that have incoming water will be cooler.

Well, there is that!

But wouldn't your homeowner's cover the boat if it's sitting in the garage or driveway?

my beef is I, and my boat, are being treated as one that is anchored, moored or berthed on the coast. "IF" a named storm damages my boat it will be because the garage caved in and damaged both boat and truck. Why don't they do the same deductible for my truck then? At least qualifiy the named storm deductible by saying "if your boat is anchored, moored, berthed or operated during a named storm AND it becomes damaged by a named storm then we are going to implement a "dang your stupid" deducitble increase that you will not like!

Ive got progressive ,coverage does not include my eq damaged by storms or me,just the other guy and 300/100-160 a year, will go dwon now that a 140 is on it instead of a 200.

Cost is about 20-25 bucks per 25 hp added, and mine went down some as never filed a claim.

Fiigure if annie or frank  is headed in you should be headed out

That's something to consider without a doubt!  I know I never thought of a "named" storm being different than one that doesn't have a name.

But I think you might find that all the other insurance companies will have similar policies.

My boat insurance renews ever October. Sooo… got my new policy. I have insurance with Progressive and the first thing in the packet was a notice that they have reduced my deductable by 25% due to no claims being filed. It's part of their "disappearing deductible" program. OK … great! Next notice in the package…. "IF your boat is damaged by a named storm your deductible has changed"…. After much verbage it boiled down to… Damaged casused by a named storm will be 5% of the total loss coverage. Well… I insure mine for 27k soooo… if it get's damaged by a named storm the deductible goes from 500.00 to…. $1,350.00. Guess it's time to start lookin' for another insurance company huh?
