Yeah Lil Mule, I was pretty tickled with myself for finding it, and then pulling fish off it.  If you guys are heading up there let me know and I will draw it on the map for you.  Its kind of an odd place for the ledge to be in my opinion, and I watched 100 boats pass it up over the weekend.  Lots of guys fished that point but never seemed to notice this structure.

We will hopefully be back next year to try it again!Laugh

Their are seveal nice ledges just north on that west bank towards that island I  had marked, north of big bear.curious did you mark the spot with gps?

If so next year be good again most likly.

Thats called the first ledge and prior to spawn and after they are hot when one finds where they tend to gang up at.In  a T this time of year that is what is mostly targeted going for 30 lb sacks of 5,and they also tend to be about the same size, that one would have gotten you maybe 16-17lbs.

But a nice job in finding it.

Hi Jim,

I'm glad you got into some fish finally.  I know conditions were tough when you were down here.  And Lil Mule is right, sometimes you'll find all the fish in one small spot while other times it appears they're scattered and active everywhere!  And a couple days can make a tremendous difference.

But now at least you've gotten your feet wet on Kentucky Lake and know that while it's a BIG lake, it's not an impossible one to fish.

Janet and I had a great time with you two and we look forward to your next trip "down south".

Difference of a few days, was almost there but not quite,81 f here today and the temp is going up fast.

Glad to know you did get on fish some ,thats the way it is here as well one lil spot bam,and when one finds one, when they quit can go back hourly and nail them again.

Coming  a tad farther south wont guarantee fish ,just more company.

A big thanks to Steve and Lil Mule for all the advice and help in planning our Kentucky Lake outing.  Though the fishing could have been better, we had a great time, and are planning a trip next spring already (But maybe a tad later in the year!)

Fishing on Friday and Saturday was mediocre at best.  Lots of wind and high pressure blue bird skies.  Not to mention the 150 boats on Saturday that could not stay out on the main lake because of the wind, and decided to fish wherever we happened to be!

Sunday, less wind, but raining.  The morning was not too productive, but better than the first two days.  Stopped back for a little lunch and hit it again in the afternoon.  Right at the end of the day Sunday we tore into a patch of fish.  Took probably 16 or so fish off one little 50yard stretch that we found and worked.  It had a very nice ledge that dropped from about 9 feet of water into about 18, and they were on it.

It was a great way to end the trip.  Nothing over 3 pounds but most of them keepers.  What a great lake.  Next year we plan on heading a little further south so we can follow Steve and Lil Mule around!

Had a nice time with you and Janet Saturday Steve.  Thanks for having dinner with us.

Make sure to post some pictures of the big ones you catch this summer.
