Exactly ,ky lake is clearer, has more current and evrything I know about the species says ky is better for spotted bass, worse they are connected via a canal. That canal does have a healthy population in one B.A.S.S. T a pro (televised)stopped on the bridge abutments and limited out.

They do get on the 79 bridge for a short time period but are rather small in comparison to the actual population.

I weighed in two spots last year over 15 in long but under 16,in aba tournaments, while those arnt large fish here was glad to get them at the time. And would really love to be able to do as back home ,limit on them quickly, just doesnt seem to happen most of the time

From what i can tell they react like bass on a deeper lake, going to long points and drops, post spawn and staying there, every one ive caught post spawn comes from out of 16 ft of water,or more.

This lake is oxygenated to between 50 and 55 ft.

Heck, I'm tickled to death that I've caught a couple spots at all since I've moved to TN.  I find it odd that I could catch them like crazy on Lake Barkely, but not on Kentucky Lake!

Back on the ohio river had no trouble finding 12 in long spots, year round as they had a fairly predictable pattern.

Prespawn even found big ones up to 15 in ,the rest of the year the bigger ones I failed to find.

Here on Ky lake Ive weighed in spots exceeding 15 in as they do grow a tad bigger here,it is considered a flooded river fishery.

I do find some 12 in spots in prespawn schooled up but never large ones,do catch them over 15 when fishing for other species, just never like all schooled up like all previous behavior by the species ive known.

What am I missing?

Do not the larger ones school up,and if not then why do they do so like on the ohio river.

Ive always thought any fish in a school would be of similar size, meaning all very close to

each other in size as the same year hatch or close.

My thoughts are while its considered a flooded river fishery they themselves think its a lake,it does have the current of a river in places its shallow as many rivers over 60 percent of ky lake is quite shallow, yet I believe spots relate to it differently than they would an actual river.30 miles from ky dam it empties into the ohio where spots actually predominate, yet here they are the occasional catch.

Any clues anyone?
